Dust with a dry, soft cloth. For a mark, wipe with a barely damp cloth and dry it straight away — marble is porous, and standing water leaves a ring. Never use bleach, vinegar, lemon or a cream cleaner. Acids etch the polish, and an etched surface cannot be put back. Suitable for outdoors, where it will weather slowly to a softer surface.
Delivery
Delivered to any county in Ireland for €285, or collect it free in Termonbarry, Co. Roscommon once it is paid in full — the meeting place is agreed with Thomas on WhatsApp.
If it arrives damaged, we replace it — shipping & returns.
About this piece
Christ carrying the found sheep across his shoulders — the oldest image Christians made of him, older than the crucifix. Carved by hand in marble at three feet, for a sanctuary, a baptistery or a garden.
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep” (John 10). The parable of the man who leaves ninety-nine to go after one that is lost was carved on Roman tombs and painted in the catacombs long before the Church could build openly, and it has never gone out of use.
