Dust with a dry, soft cloth. For a mark, wipe with a barely damp cloth and dry it straight away — marble is porous, and standing water leaves a ring. Never use bleach, vinegar, lemon or a cream cleaner. Acids etch the polish, and an etched surface cannot be put back. Suitable for outdoors, where it will weather slowly to a softer surface.

About this piece
Our Lady of Grace, hands open and lowered in the gesture of the Miraculous Medal. Carved by hand in marble at four feet — a church-scale figure that also suits a large hall, a stairwell or a garden with room around it.
The image comes from what St Catherine Labouré was shown in the Rue du Bac in Paris in 1830: Our Lady standing on the globe, rays falling from her open hands, and around her the words “O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.” The medal struck from it went round the world within a few years.
