County Limerick
Religious statues in Co. Limerick
Every June tens of thousands come to Mount St Alphonsus for the Redemptorists’ Solemn Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Limerick is also the county of St Ita of Killeedy, the ‘foster-mother of the saints of Ireland’.

The diocese and the Novena
St John’s Cathedral in the city is the cathedral of the Diocese of Limerick. The east of the county, around Emly, belongs to the Archdiocese of Cashel and Emly.
The Solemn Novena at Mount St Alphonsus runs for nine days in the second half of June (the feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help is 27 June); there are several Masses each day and the church fills from early morning to late at night. The icon venerated there is a copy of the original that Pope Pius IX entrusted to the Redemptorists in 1865.
Other holy places
St Ita’s, Killeedy
St Ita founded her community at Killeedy in the sixth century. On her feast, 15 January, people still visit the old churchyard to make rounds and pray at her well.
Glenstal Abbey, Murroe
The Benedictine monastery in the east of the county, known for its liturgy and its school.
Which statues suit
Many Limerick homes keep a picture of Perpetual Help from the Novena; a statue makes a fine companion to it. We carry Our Lady of Perpetual Help — the statue page gives its size and finish.
The Sacred Heart, St Joseph and Padre Pio are the other statues we would suggest. For a parish, church statues explains what to consider.

Questions from Limerick
How much is delivery to Co. Limerick?
Resin statues go by post to any address in Co. Limerick for a flat €15 per order, however many statues are in the parcel. Marble is too heavy for the post, so we deliver it ourselves; the delivery charge for each marble statue is shown on its own page before you order. We deliver marble to the city and county on a day agreed with you.
Can I have a statue in time for the Novena?
Order well before June, and tell us the date you are working to; we will be honest about whether it can be met.
Would a statue suit a parish Novena display?
It can. Tell us the space it will stand in and we will suggest a size; church statues covers what parishes usually ask.
A statue for Limerick?
Tell us where the statue will stand and roughly how tall it should be, and we will tell you plainly what suits. WhatsApp or ring +353 85 285 1015, or write to [email protected].

Tipperary
Tipperary holds the Rock of Cashel, the archbishop’s cathedral at Thurles, and Holy Cross Abbey, founded to keep a relic of the True Cross.
Resin vs marble
Both materials make a good statue. They make different statues, though, and the right one depends on where it will stand, who will move it and how long you mean it to last.
