Religious statues in Co. Westmeath
Mullingar has the cathedral of the Diocese of Meath, dedicated to Christ the King at the request of Pope Pius XI. At Multyfarnham the Franciscans built a Way of the Cross with life-size figures, and Fore is famous for St Féichín’s seven wonders.

The Cathedral of Christ the King
The Cathedral of Christ the King in Mullingar was dedicated in 1936 and consecrated in 1939, a large Renaissance-style church designed by W. H. Byrne & Son. It is the cathedral of the Diocese of Meath. Athlone, on the Shannon, is divided between Meath and Elphin.

Multyfarnham Friary
The Franciscan friars decided in 1938 to build an outdoor Way of the Cross with life-size statues, laid out on both banks of the River Gaine in the friary grounds. It is still walked by visitors and pilgrims.
Fore
St Féichín founded a monastery here in the seventh century. Local tradition counts seven wonders, among them the monastery built on a bog and the water of St Féichín’s well that will not boil.
Which statues suit
With the diocesan cathedral dedicated to Christ the King, Christ the King has a natural place in Westmeath parishes, especially for the feast at the end of November. The friars at Multyfarnham make St Francis a natural choice for a garden.

Questions from Westmeath
How much is delivery to Co. Westmeath?
Resin statues go by post to any address in Co. Westmeath for a flat €15 per order, however many statues are in the parcel. Marble is too heavy for the post, so we deliver it ourselves; the delivery charge for each marble statue is shown on its own page before you order. Collection in Termonbarry, Co. Roscommon, is free and not far from much of the county — arrange it by WhatsApp on +353 85 285 1015.
Can I collect a marble statue?
Yes. Choose collection at checkout, and once the order is paid in full message us on WhatsApp to agree a time in Termonbarry. Marble is heavy for its size, so bring a helper and something soft to lay it on.
When is the feast of Christ the King?
On the last Sunday of the liturgical year, the Sunday before Advent begins — late November.

Roscommon
Roscommon is where we are. Any statue, resin or marble, can be collected free in Termonbarry, on the Shannon — and Roscommon has its own holy ground at Ogulla, where St Patrick is said to have baptised the daughters of the High King.
Offaly
On the Shannon at Clonmacnoise, St Ciarán founded the monastery that became one of the great schools of early Christian Europe. Offaly also has Durrow, Colmcille’s foundation, and Seir Kieran, by tradition older still.
Choosing a size
The most common reason a statue disappoints is not the statue: it is the size. A few minutes with a tape measure, and one or two rules of thumb, save a lot of trouble.
