County Wexford
Religious statues in Co. Wexford
Every year from the Assumption on 15 August to Our Lady’s birthday on 8 September, pilgrims come to Our Lady’s Island in the south of the county. Wexford also has Pugin’s great cathedral at Enniscorthy.

The Diocese of Ferns
St Aidan’s Cathedral in Enniscorthy, designed by Augustus Welby Pugin and begun in 1843, is the cathedral of the Diocese of Ferns. It is named after St Aidan — Máedóc — of Ferns, the diocese’s founder, not the Aidan of Lindisfarne. In Wexford town, the twin churches of the Assumption and the Immaculate Conception were built to the same design.
Pilgrimage
Our Lady’s Island
The pilgrimage season opens on 15 August with an outdoor procession and closes on 8 September with an evening Mass and a torchlight procession. Through the season there is daily Mass, and pilgrims walk around the island in the lake.

The village where St Aidan founded his monastery and where the medieval cathedral still stands.
Which statues suit
Our Lady’s Island makes this a Marian county. Our Lady of the Assumption for the feast that opens the pilgrimage, the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and Our Lady of Grace are the statues we suggest first for a Wexford home or a parish shrine.
The south-east gets more sun than most of Ireland, and the coast takes salt wind. Sun fades paint and salt dulls it; outdoors, choose marble, and read resin or marble? before deciding.

Questions from Wexford
How much is delivery to Co. Wexford?
Resin statues go by post to any address in Co. Wexford for a flat €15 per order, however many statues are in the parcel. Marble is too heavy for the post, so we deliver it ourselves; the delivery charge for each marble statue is shown on its own page before you order. We deliver marble to every part of the county, from Gorey to Kilmore Quay, on a day agreed with you.
Can I order a statue in time for the Island pilgrimage?
Order well ahead of 15 August, and tell us the date you are working to; we will be honest about what we can do.
What suits a statue in a sunny window?
Painted resin keeps its colour longest out of strong direct sun. A north- or east-facing window is kinder; or choose marble, which sunlight does not fade.

Religious statues in Ireland
Statues of Our Lord, Our Lady and the saints for the home, the parish and the garden — hand-painted resin and hand-carved marble, delivered to every county in Ireland.
Wicklow
St Kevin came to Glendalough to be alone with God and founded one of the great monasteries of Ireland. Pilgrims still walk St Kevin’s Way over the mountains from Hollywood.
Waterford
Waterford has the oldest post-Reformation Catholic cathedral in Ireland and, at Ardmore, the well of St Declan, whose pattern is still kept in July.
Resin vs marble
Both materials make a good statue. They make different statues, though, and the right one depends on where it will stand, who will move it and how long you mean it to last.
